PATRICK REED has slammed team-mate Jordan Spieth and US Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk – while revealing the reason why America got hammered by Europe.
Reed, nicknamed Captain America, picked up just one point from three matches at Le Golf National as Thomas Bjorn’s side won 17.5-10.5.
The Masters champion lit up Hazeltine two years ago when paired alongside Jordan Spieth.
But he was split from Spieth in France – Spieth partnering Justin Thomas – and Reed said it was because Spieth does not like him.
Reed also said he was so angry after defeat he felt like blasting captain Furyk just like Phil Mickelson did to Tom Watson at Gleneagles four years ago.
Speaking to the New York Times, Reed said: “The issue’s obviously with Jordan not wanting to play with me.
“I don’t have any issue with Jordan. When it comes right down to it, I don’t care if I like the person I’m paired with or if the person likes me as long as it works and it sets up the team for success.
“He and I know how to make each other better. We know how to get the job done.”
A Twitter account appearing to belong to Reed’s wife Justine stoked the flames earlier in the week.
She told one person to “ask Jordan” why the dream duo were split and posted: “You don’t have to love the people you work with – but when you have chemistry and success, you go with it for the TEAM.”

Reed and Spieth were quizzed about being split up in the losing side’s press conference last night.
Spieth said he and Reed – who partnered Tiger Woods in two defeats to Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood – were “totally involved” in every decision.
When Spieth said that, Reed blasted: “I was looking at him like I was about to light the room up like Phil in ’14.”
Reed insists Furyk used a “buddy system” that involved the input of all but a few select players.
And he said the inspirational messages Furyk had plastered over the team room meant nothing in the end.
He added: “Every day, I saw ‘Leave your egos at the door.’ They [Europeans] do that better than us.”
